Cummer Heritage Consulting (CHC) provides services in the following key areas:

Research

As an experienced researcher with a PhD, Katie can carefully comb archival collections to find a wide variety of historical data and information. She can effectively organize, distill and analyse a range of research materials, from fire insurance maps and city directories to historical correspondence and photographs. She is also able to write in an accessible manner and is excellent editor, having a careful and good eye for detail. She has authored, co-authored and edited a number of academic papers, books, chapters and consultancy studies on topics related to heritage conservation, including recommendations on best practice for official Government use. Recent research projects include a Provincial Heritage Branch commissioned report (with infographic and accompanying summary brief) examining and outlining the seismic risk to British Columbia’s Historic Streetscapes, with concluding recommendations for improvements. She was also a co-editor on the recently published book Asian Revitalization: Adaptive Reuse in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.
